The journey to the residence of Fr. Donald Hawes runs alongside a creek in Wexford. A shrine to the Virgin Mary watching over a vegetable garden is visible after turning off the road. A little further down the drive and the scene opens up to reveal an idyllic clearing, where a farm resides next to other buildings and land that make up the Hawes farmstead.
